General Registration Questions

Are camps open to boys and girls of all ages?

Ages/grades and other enrollment requirements vary camp to camp. You may refer to each camp's web page for details. Please be aware that due to NCAA regulations our camps are not permitted to make exceptions to the stated camp eligibility requirements.

Do camps offer discounts on registration fees?

Some camps offer early registration and group discounts. Please read your specific camp web page for detailed information. While discounts may be available for a camp, NCAA regulations prohibit us from offering scholarships or other financial aid to campers. It is not permissible for boosters to provide expenses for individuals to attend any of the Badger Sports Camps. Expenses include, but are not limited to, lodging, meals, transportation, and/or camp tuition.

How can I stay updated with Badger Sports Camps program offerings?

Keep an eye on our website, uwcamps.com! We also have a Facebook account where we post about new and upcoming camps open for registration - you can follow us at Badger Sports Camps!

If you are interested in a specific sport, please email badgercamps@athletics.wisc.edu requesting to be added to our sport-specific email distribution list! Once on this list, you will be notified when new information regarding camp is released/when camps open for registration! Please don't forget to mention which email list you'd like to be added to (i.e., boys basketball, girls hockey, etc.) in your email!

How do I register a camper?

Registration for Badger Sports Camps should be completed online, with the option to make payment by credit card or by check via mail (Please allow 7-10 days mailing and processing time if paying by check). Registering online will ensure accuracy of data, provide a secure setting for sensitive information, and will prevent campers from being left out of a camp that reaches maximum capacity while their forms are being sent by mail. Online registration closes at least 24 hours prior to the beginning of each camp session.

If camp is full, do you have a waiting list?

Many of our camps do fill up early. If you would like to sign up for a waiting list, please complete the online registration process as normal. Doing so will automatically add your camper to the waitlist if the camp session is full.

If being added to the waitlist, you will NOT be charged when completing the online registration process.

If let in the off the waitlist, you will receive an email from badgercamps@athletics.wisc.edu with instructions regarding completing registration.

What is Badger Sports Camps' federal tax ID number?

The tax ID number for Badger Sports Camps is 39-1805963.

When does online registration close?

Online registration closes at least 24 hours prior to the beginning of each camp session. Please note, registration deadlines may be earlier for certain sessions. This will allow our staff to finalize rosters and review medical information in preparation of providing a safe and enjoyable camp experience for all campers.

When will I receive my camp confirmation packet?

In most cases, camp confirmation packets are sent via email to camp participants approximately 2-3 weeks prior to the program start date.

Oftentimes, camp confirmation packets are available online a few weeks before they are emailed to participants. Please select our "SPORTS CAMPS" tab, and then view the specific sport programming your camper will be attending. If available, a blue "INFO PACKET" button will appear.

What is the difference between a overnight and a commuter camper?

Many of our summer camps offer two enrollment options for campers - overnight and commuter. Overnight campers stay on campus in the dorms at night, whereas commuter campers (also called "day campers") "commute" between campus and their home (or where they are staying) each day.

Who runs the Badger Sports Camps?

The Division of Intercollegiate Athletics sponsors all Badger Sports Camps. Licensing authority for all precollege programs and youth camps at UW-Madison is governed by University Health Services (UHS).

Parking and Transportation Questions

Can a camper bring their own vehicle to camp?

We discourage campers from bringing their own vehicles to camp. All vehicles parked on campus require a parking permit which must be obtained by the camper.

If you are interested in ordering a parking permit, please see our recommended parking packet (linked here). Instructions for purchasing a daily permit can be found on page 3. To ensure availability, it is highly recommended interested campers purchase a value permit at least 2 weeks out from the camp start date.

Can a camper drive their car during camp?

For the protection of our campers, camp participants who drive themselves to camp must turn in all keys to the Camp Director at check-in. Keys will be returned at checkout.

What is the closest airport to the University of Wisconsin - Madison?

Dane County Regional Airport is located in Madison about 10 miles from campus. General Mitchell International Airport in Milwaukee is located about 60 miles from campus. O'Hare International Airport in Chicago is located about 90 miles from campus.

Where can I park on campus?

A packet including parking information can be found here.

Medical Questions

Is health insurance provided by the camp?

Campers are encouraged to have their own health insurance as limited accident insurance is provided by the University. The camp provides limited accident insurance, which is primary up to $10,000.

What happens if my child is injured or needs medical attention during camp?

The Camp Health Staff services are available for all camps. Should an injury or illness occur during the daytime, health staff will determine the best course of action for medical attention. If an injury occurs that potentially limits the ability to continue participating in the camp, the Health Staff Supervisor will evaluate the participant and contact the parent/guardian and discuss care options. If the participant needs immediate physician referral, they will be transported to the UW Hospital by health staff, and the parent/guardian will be contacted. Cost for treatment of injuries/hospitalization is the responsibility of the parent/guardian. For all overnight camps, health staff, including a nurse are available in case of any emergencies.

When is the health form due?

The required Confidential Health History Questionnaire, Confidential Consent for Medical Treatment and Concussion/Head Injury Waiver Form are completed online as part of the registration process. This information must be completed at least 24 hours prior to participation in any of our Badger Sports Camps

Who do I talk to if my child needs to take medication during camp?

When you go through the check-in process, all campers stop at the Health Services table, this is where you should discuss your child’s medications and how the staff should handle them.

Housing

Are meals/snacks provided at camp?

MEALS - Meals are included in the registration fee for all overnight camps. Please note, meals are not always provided for day camps. Please select our "SPORTS CAMPS" tab, and reference the specific camp your participant will be attending. Each camp will have details as to whether or not meals are provided during camp programming; and if so, which meals are included.

SNACKS - Snacks are not provided at camp. Campers are welcome to bring their own snacks for between meals or for during break periods.

Can I call prior to camp and find out who my child will be housed with?

Housing assignments are not done until the night before camp. When you arrive at check-in you will receive your housing assignment and can ask who your roommate will be.

How are roommates assigned?

Campers may request a specific roommate as part of the online registration process. For those who do not request a specific roommate during the registration process, roommates will be assigned by the Camp Administrator.

Although we do our best to pair roommates together based on gender and age, please understand that numbers do not always work out. If your child comes to Camp without a roommate request, there is a possibility they will be in a single dorm room.

How many campers are assigned to a room?

All overnight camps can accommodate up to two campers per dorm room.

Is bedding provided for overnight campers?

University Housing will provide all overnight participants with a linen pack (including a pillow, pillow case, fitted sheet, top sheet, and a blanket). Particiapnts are welcome to bring their own if they prefer.

My camper is attending in a group of three, can they all room together?

We can accommodate up to two campers per dorm room. If your camper is attending with a group, please email badgercamps@athletics.wisc.edu with your group members names. While not guaranteed, we will place a request that all members from your group are roomed near one another in the residence hall.

What is provided in my dorm room?

University Housing residence halls provide student-style housing conveniently located on campus near camps.

Each dorm room includes air conditioning, wireless internet, cable television connections (via personal electronic device), and shared bathroom facilities. Each dorm includes a floor lounge with televisions, tables, and chairs. Laundry and vending machines are located within most residence halls.

Conduct

What is your conduct policy?

All campers are expected to conduct themselves in a manner conducive to learning. Any misconduct will result in immediate dismissal and forfeiture of fees.

Recruiting

Can I contact the coaches directly?

Coaches must follow NCAA recruiting rules that establish when coaches may and may not have contact with a prospective student-athlete. Therefore, even if you call a coach and leave a voicemail, the coach may not be permitted to respond.

Do coaches use their camps to recruit?

Our camps offer campers an opportunity to work closely with coaches. NCAA rules allow our coaches to have recruiting conversations with campers during camp. Recruiting videos or other materials should not be directed to the Camps Office.
